L'étrier de sécurité à travers les âges: Etrical et ses ancêtres!
Apparu en Asie plusieurs siècles avant notre ère, l’étrier a d’abord été un accessoire visant à aider le cavalier à se mettre en selle (étrier de monte), avant de se présenter sous la forme que nous connaissons actuellement, à savoir deux anneaux métalliques, accrochés de chaque côté de la selle par l’étrivière, où le cavalier vient glisser ses pieds pour prendre appui.
L’étrier traditionnel a été source d’accidents depuis son invention, certaines formes de l’étrier accentuant le risque en cas de chute, notamment au cours des batailles.
Nous vous proposons aujourd’hui un petit voyage dans le passé, à la rencontre des ancêtres d’Etrical : les étriers de sécurité fermés !
On voir apparaître vers la 15éme siècle l’étrier à cage en fer forgé pour éviter au pied de rester prisonnier mais aussi pour protéger le pied des coups de sabre :
